Here’s some food for thought. You know you’re essential to your family and friends, but are you also essential to the workforce? How do you prepare for workforce readiness?
A lot of people are talking about how employment will change over the long term. Despite the best predictions, no one really knows what will happen. But looking ahead and planning for the future are part of the EFSC workforce leadership team’s daily agenda. We work hard to offer programs that can prepare you for jobs considered essential in any climate. Our programs rapidly prepare students for entry-level positions in CNC Machining, Electronics Assembly, Help Desk Specialization, Patient Care Assistance and Welding. Grant funds may be available to help offset the costs, and job placement support will be provided!
Due to the pandemic, the national unemployment rate is higher than usual. However, the demand for skilled workers has actually increased in some professions. So, where does EFSC come in? Naturally, we encourage the pursuit of any type of higher education. However, it’s worth noting that a lot of career and technical programs provide increased job security in times of crisis, such as nursing. Here are just a few of them:
- Public Safety
- Manufacturing
- Health and Nursing
- HVAC
- Computer Science and IT
- Engineering Technology
- Transportation and Logistics
Let’s face it: no one was really prepared for this kind of crisis, but Eastern Florida State College is here to help. We work closely with local businesses and industries to ensure that the programs and certificates we offer are consistent with current workforce needs and that we truly have something for everyone. Financial strain doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t still pursue your educational goals. There are many financial aid and scholarship options that can help, so please don’t be afraid to reach out — and remember: we’ve got your back.
