It’s that time of year when we reflect on what we’re thankful for and count our blessings. If you’re a thankful college student attending EFSC, here are eight things you can add to your gratitude list:
1. Friends at College
Whether you brought them with you from your high school graduating class or made new ones in college, friends make the undergraduate experience memorable and fun. In the words of Linda Grayson, “There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate.” This brings us to our next item…
2. Delicious Food
EFSC students have a world of flavors at their fingertips. Whether visiting your campus’ Food Services for a tasty bite or attending an event to grab a free meal, you can savor seasonal treats (autumn lattes, anyone?) and perennial favorites. Speaking of…
3. Special Events
Every month, EFSC features free events for students to attend, making the campus experience even more engaging and memorable. From Hispanic Heritage Month fiestas to Fall Festival haunts, you can get involved in special celebrations, win prizes, grab some swag, and meet new and familiar faces on campus.
4. Instructors
We never forget the teachers who made the biggest impact on us. Consider writing a “thank you” letter to any EFSC instructor — past or present — who helped you on your academic journey. From meeting after class to help you work through a tricky homework problem, to spending hours creating course material to enhance your knowledge, teachers pour so much into us, giving us countless reasons to be grateful.
5. Tutors, Advisors, & More
This goes for other EFSC staff members, too! Consider everyone on campus and online who has helped you this year — academic tutors, advisors, career coaches, librarians, admissions specialists, and more. Nobody takes the academic journey solo, and having a team of caring professionals in your corner is just another reason to be grateful.
6. Books & Media
Every campus has its own Library filled with books, movies, and more for students to enjoy — all for free! Sitting down in a quiet corner with a new story is an amazing feeling. Just think of all that money you’re saving on entertainment! Plus, knowing a team of Librarians is available to help you find exactly what you’re looking for makes the experience worthy of your gratitude list.
7. Opportunities
From traveling to other countries to becoming a leader in your community, EFSC offers many opportunities to pursue your personal and professional dreams. Join a club, volunteer at an organization, take a special topics class, make professional connections with businesses, attend a theatrical performance, or engage in dozens of other special events to make the most of your college experience.
8. Thanksgiving Break
Can’t leave this one out! Having time off to celebrate the holidays (or just enjoy a break from school), makes the season of gratitude even sweeter. Take time to engage in personal hobbies, hang out with friends, and give yourself a well-deserved breather!
What are YOU Thankful For, College Student?
From everyone at EFSC, we hope you have a wonderful holiday!
