There are endless options when it comes to looking for a college. Do you want to stay local, or move out of state? Should you attend a state college, or a university? What is the difference between a public and a private college? How do you decide which one is best for you? And how do you start exploring your college campus?
The Internet is great for finding out which programs each school offers. Thorough research can help you narrow down your options, but there is only so much you can learn from your iPad.
Online resources like virtual tours are useful for general information, but if you really want to get to know a college, you have to go there! A virtual tour can’t replace the experience of actually walking around on a campus, interacting with current students and spending time with program experts.
At Eastern Florida, we offer many different ways to explore our campuses and programs: Open Houses, Campus Tours, Information Sessions and Workshops. Read on to discover the best fit for you!
Open Houses
Although we are one College, our four campus locations have very different atmospheres. Each of them is also the exclusive home to specific programs, which are often featured during our open houses. Here are some of the highlights:
- Cocoa: WEFS-TV, state-of-the-art STEM building, Veterinary Technology, Culinary Management, Dental Hygiene and Assisting, Digital Media, Cosmetology
- Melbourne: Public Safety, Nursing & Health Sciences, brand new Student Union, Titan Athletics games (complete with free admission)
- Palm Bay: Cyber Range, Engineering Technology, Fire Training Facility
- Titusville: Indian River Lagoon location; Information & Office Technology; Environmental, Natural & Life Sciences
Throughout each term, our open house events feature tours, program advising, workshops, application assistance and more.
Campus Tours
A tour gives you the opportunity to visit a campus and meet student leaders, who show you around. When you take a campus tour, you visit important resource areas and get to know the best places to study or relax between classes. You also learn about on-campus student life, clubs and other ways to connect with fellow students. Bonus: Since our tours are led by current EFSC students, they also provide a chance for you to get first-hand answers to your questions! Register for a Campus Tour today.
Information Sessions
Our info sessions are designed to let you know about specific academic programs, or to inform you about new initiatives at Eastern Florida State College. After you have narrowed down your potential degree choices, this is where you can come to get a closer look at each one. Typically facilitated by a program specialist or advisor, information sessions provide a unique opportunity to get additional details directly from the experts.
Workshops
Get ready to take some action! Our workshops are a hands-on way to turn your college decision into an application. They’re a great choice if you prefer to have someone guide you through the necessary steps for application and enrollment. Enrollment and financial aid specialists are on hand at our workshops to help navigate any speed bumps along the way — plus we make sure you know what to do next to get registered and into class.
People who really want to get to know a college can opt to attend more than one of these helpful events. We love to help future students get to know the campus, no matter which option(s) they choose! So what are you waiting for? Register for an upcoming admissions event — and we’ll see you soon!
