If you’re anything like me, you’re juggling classes and assignments. But college life is about so much more than just listening to lectures and studying. From workshops and career fairs to open mic nights and campus parties, there’s a whole world of experiences waiting for you. Each event is a chance to learn something new, connect with like-minded peers, and grow personally and professionally.
Attending campus events lets me relax in-between classes, snag free lunch, and show off my creative side with hands-on crafts and activities. That’s why I’m sharing these five tips to help you navigate campus events like a pro.
1. Stay in the Loop
First things first: Your college probably has more going on than you realize. Guest speakers and open houses are only the beginning! The easiest ways to stay in the loop are to follow your school’s social media pages, subscribe to newsletters (like the Splash Blog), and check online event calendars and student-focused web pages regularly. Trust me: You don’t want to miss out on that True Crime Club Pizza Party, guided yoga sessions, or the chance to snuggle up with therapy dogs on campus.
2. Plan Ahead
When you come across an event that catches your eye, mark it on your calendar or set a reminder on your phone. This information might come from a flyer on campus, a friend, or your college’s website. Once it’s on your radar, block out time to attend the event before or after your classes. Properly planning ahead ensures that you won’t catch a serious case of FOMO!
3. Network Confidently
From fellow students to professors and visiting professionals, there’s a whole network waiting to connect with you. Don’t be shy; introduce yourself! Networking can lead to new friendships, mentorships, and even job opportunities. College is the perfect time to break out of your shell and explore different areas that interest you. Plus, networking at campus events gives you an informal taste of what it would be like at a work function or conference in the future.
4. Be Open-Minded
Sure, it’s tempting to stick to familiar events or activities, but where’s the fun in that? Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and explore new opportunities while it’s free. Attend a workshop on a topic you’re curious about, join a student club or organization (or two) that aligns with your interests, or participate in cultural events to broaden your horizons and gain new perspectives. Embracing new experiences can enrich your personal growth.
5. Reflect & Share
After each event, take time to reflect on your experiences. What did you learn? How did the event impact your personal or academic journey? Share your experiences with friends, classmates, and mentors. Your insights might spark up a conversation and inspire somebody else to attend an event that they were unsure about.
The EFSC Example

There’s always something fun going on for everyone to enjoy! Here are some ways to stay in the loop:
You’ll want to bookmark your college’s calendar, event hubs, and social media profiles to stay up-to-date on upcoming events and offerings. I could go on and on about the many student-focused events that EFSC puts on throughout the academic year, but instead here are some great digital spaces to find them whenever you want.
The Current Students Web Page highlights current events, important notices, student support services, and more for our students. It also provides quick links to log in to your student email and myEFSC accounts. For larger campus-wide events and recaps, the website homepage is a great tool to check out.
The Titan Virtual Hub is your one-stop-shop for featured campus events and the student activities calendar which shares information about athletic events, writing workshops, campus parties, club events, and more.
Connect with Eastern Florida on social media by following it on Instagram, Twitter (X), LinkedIn, and Facebook. Not only are they great tools for real-time campus updates, but you can find campus event info quickly and easily at almost any given time. Did you know that there are individual Facebook pages for each campus? The individual pages are great ways to find events and updates centered around your home campus. You can find them below.
- Titusville Campus Facebook Page
